Du haut de ses 1 259 m, le roc de Montalet toise la cohorte des ondulations du massif. Alentour, le paysage déferle en vagues de verdures partagées entre bois et prairies, qui viennent mourir dans le lit des rivières : Dadou, Gijou, Berlou, Agoût ; des cours d`eau vive où la truite est sauvage et batailleuse, qui filent plein ouest selon le penchant naturel des monts vers l`Atlantique.
